Selvtakt

Privacy policy

Last updated 4 November 2026

Selvtakt is a personal running app for iPhone and Mac. It is built to keep your data with you: there are no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no social feed. This policy explains what the app reads, what leaves your device, and how to delete it.

Who is responsible

Selvtakt is made in Norway. For any question about your data, write to privacy@selvtakt.no.

Data the app reads on your device

With your permission, Selvtakt reads from Apple Health: running workouts, routes, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability and sleep. This is used only to show your runs and to calculate your training plan, form, goals and records. It is processed on your device. Health data is never used for advertising or sold, and it is never shared with anyone for their own purposes.

The coach ("Ask the coach") uses Apple's on-device language model. Your questions and the summary it is given stay on your device.

Data that leaves your device

WhatWhenWhere it goes
E-mail address and passwordWhen you create your account (needed to use the app)Our database provider, Supabase, to let you sign in
Notes on runs, training plan, goals, gear, heart-rate zones and runs you deletedWhile you are signed in, so they are the same on your devicesSupabase, in rows that only your account can read
Start point and route pointsWhen you ask the route planner for loops or draw a routeBRouter (brouter.de), Apple Maps and Open-Meteo, to calculate routes and elevation. They are not linked to you or stored by us.

Your runs, heart rate and sleep from Apple Health are read on your phone and not uploaded. Runs you import from a Strava export are read and kept on the device too.

Keeping your account safe

What we don't do

How long data is kept

Synced data is kept for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, it is deleted from our database straight away. Backups held by our database provider are overwritten within their normal backup period.

Deleting your data

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, and object to how it is used. Write to privacy@selvtakt.no. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

Children

Selvtakt is not directed at children under 13.
